how long did it take? what type of things did they look for? i don't have a criminal record or anything, but i don't have the best credit. I already have an active security clearance though. But it is taking 4 ever. (this position would be for an aircraft mechanic) basicly i am wondering what all they are looking for concidering they don't have to do the background check for the clearence. and how long it will take. ( bit more info) i have already been offered the job based on clearing the background check, and the results of the drug test which i took the same day i interviewed and passed that. so i am now just waiting on the background check. it has been over 2 weeks now and the start date is comming up soon. i have to relocate for this job. it is only an hour and a half away but, i need time to give a 2 weeks notice at my current job, and a notice to my current landlord. and it is already the first now.
The problem is probably they have to check your references. If the references do not answer the phone, they'll leave a message to return their call, but don't say who/what it's for. Most people think it's some sales call, so they don't return it.
Be sure to tell your references that if they get an unusual message requesting a call be returned to please call them back. Otherwise, the company will sit on your clearance.
