On a job interview they asked me if I ever had gov. security clearance, what does that involve?
It means that you have been checked your background, family jobs, credit etc. the government investigates anyone who is related to you or is connected to you. They run fingerprint checks, criminal record checks, of you and your family. My brother works for the Federal Dept of Justice and they do regular security checks of all people he is in contact with on a regular basis. So even if you are cleared if anyone you know or are related to has a criminal record or doesn't check out you may not be eligible for a Gov job. There are also different levels of security clearance and the higher the clearance the more they check your background. My brother is the chauffeur for the Fed. Justice Minister and has driven the Prime Minister also he has top secret clearance level. |
