I know you have to pass a civil service test, but how hard is it? Anything else you have to do? Yes you have to pass a civil service test. the test is not too hard. there is a part which deals with math (high school math functions not in Algebra or geometry but in math operations and problem solving. The next part deals with reading comprehension and with vocabulary recognition. Then there is the memory part. Where you have to memorize several lists of names and addresses and then you have to look at a whole page of names and addresses in sequence and say form which list each name and address came form for example James Jones 127 Main ST William Bloomfeld 467 South 5th street You must say which list each name cand address came from List A List B List C List D List E List F Each list contains 5 or 6 names and addresses. You have 5 minutes to memorize each list and then you have 7 minutes to go down the page and identify to which list each name and address belongs. The next part is two pages long With two names and addresses on each line. Sometimes both are the same and sometimes they are different often by spelling a name with one letters difference or an address that ends in ST. or CT or Pl. Street Court or Place. You get about three minutes to complete two pages of this part of the test. Also you should have at least a high school diploma and some previous job experience will be helpful. Also you will pass a background check and you will have to provide refernces of people who know you and they will be contacted to answer questions about you and to write a paragraph about how long they have known you and about your character. You must have a passing mark on the test and then you will be placed on a list according to your test result and then they will call you as your number on the list is reached. You may be called for a letter carrier or a sorting clerk or a window clerk or a truck driver (motor vehicle operator) I hope this information has been of help to you and I wish you the best of success.
