Can a non profit organization become inactive without breaking any laws? |
There are no assets and no income, I have just been providing free services to people who can't pay and I want to take some time off. No one else is able to replace me. Can we not have board meetings and still keep our 501c3 status if we file taxes annually? Is a by-law change needed (they call for quarterly meetings)? Thanks for your help. We are in California. may i ask what the name of your company is, or the website to organization. quarterly meetings are just to review the economic and ethics stand point of the non profit org. 501c3 is a annual status, your the forms i believe ithey are 900 for IRS purposes are also annually, but here is a link that might help you out in detail on how to protect your status http://www.nolo.com/article.cfm/objectid... Source(s): http://www.nolo.com/article.cfm/objectid... I don't know about government laws, but any grant you may have acquired can backfire on you since they gave you that money to be active, you know? Could the meetings be a simple email conversation or phone call among the board members? |
