Why dont people on welfare get a job?

i am sick of the government taking more and more money aoutof my check which i earn in order to supprt these lazy people. why dont they just go out and work and stop living off of the rest of us???

because they are lazy and love the free money and food stamps.
yes there are those who take advantage...but also keep in mind that there are those who have lost their jobs and have been looking - exhausted their unemployment...this may be their only option until they find a job.....but i do agree that the majority take advantage.

thanks

When the gov't is paying your rent and buying your groceries, why get off of welfare? 7 years ago I lived in a building that was half HUD (Section 8) occupied. Sorriest bunch of people I had ever met.
Because they are getting free food and government subsidy w/o having to lift a finger. So why would they want to give that up and work for a living? I think they're a bunch of lazy leeches sucking off the rest of us.
I wouldn't say that about all of them, but some make it bad for others who just need it til they get on their feet. Just don't get comfortable on it! They have Welfare to Work programs to help you be self sufficient.
If someone is truly disabled then I don't mind helping. But when that supposed "disabled" person has a new baby every other year they aren't disabled. Put their funds into childcare, medical for the kids BUT make them work or be in a certifiable training program, full time.
