Where could I find info on starting a nonprofit organization?

Would really like web references with basic info and legal info. Thank you for your help.

Been there done that. Start by search the irs.gov website. Read the rules for the form 990.

Get a lawyer, don't do it yourself. There are many details that are different for a non profit as opposed to a regular business. If you mess up, you could lose your non profit status and get hit with massive penalties and interest.
Check with the Georgia Attorney General's Office- Consumer Affairs Division or the Georgia State Comptroller's Office to see what forms or permits you will need.
IRS Taxpayer Assistance Division
1800-829-1040
Check with the IRS and the Secretary of State in your State. You'll need to file both State and Federal forms. Also check with the for dummies book they have a good one on starting NFP (501's)
