Government jobs IT field? |
hi, what's the best place to find IT (software) jobs with the government? I've tried usajobs.com but most post navy posts, looked more like you'd have to join to get a job. Something in state or federal, in NJ/NY area. The government contracts out for much of its IT work. When it does hire it often hires interns or former contractors. If you are not willing to come in as an intern, You may have better luck finding work with a federal contractor. A large number of Government jobs under the Department of Defense are civilian positions. So just because it appears to be a Navy job does not mean you have to be in the Navy. There is a base realignment in process (meaning that a lot of jobs are moving from one base to another) A large number of people are not willing to move and will quit. It seem to me that jobs seem to be moving away from NY/NJ but I am only familar with a few of the jobs that are being relocated. Keep looking in the usajobs.com. This is about the only source you have if you are not already a government employee. My experience has been that to find a IT government you have to be willing to move. |
