How do I go about getting a job working for a nonprofit organization/relief agency?

I have a bachelor's degree in English. Should I go back to school to get more experience to get a job in this field? I'm looking for primarily a job in the administrative side of it but with some relief work involved occasionally. Is Public Administration the right field to look into for a Masters degree? Or is there another route I should take instead to gain experience? Any advice is welcome.
I would love to end up working somewhere like United Nations, International Relief Agency, Americorps, Red Cross, Network for Good, etc. What's the appropriate course of action?

There are lots of opportunities listed in

Best wishes.
Start by volunteering at an agency, and prove yourself in the office. Then, when a job opens up, you apply for it, and they know you and know your caliber of work.

Good luck!
