Does anybody know how to find out about jobs at the post office? |
When I go to the USPS web sight the only job listed in my area is Rural Carrier. Is that a permanant job or temp? I currently have a full time job and am looking for a change and wanted to look into a 3rd shift position at the post office like a mail sorter or something. Does anybody know if they exist? Also, what kind of benefits do they offer? (vacation time, insurance, holiday pay etc.) Go to usps web site under careers. I think you can apply by going to www.usps.gov. They have applications on the site for you to fill out and send in. Enter jobs in the search box and click go and you will see opportunities available to you. Long process as you have to take the test. If you pass, then you get on a waiting list to perhaps get to apply for any jobs that come up. Check on the website for when the next test is to be given and start the ball rolling. A rural carrier is usually not a permanent, carreer position, no guarantee of hours, benefits, etc. Check the website for testing information. Or call Human Resources in your area. It is a long, drawn out procedure and you have to score extremely high on the test. Good luck but don't count on a USPS career. Unless, of course, you know the local postmaster. me. 10 year USPS employee |
