Volunteer Work? |
I thinking about doing some consveration volunteer work within the next year or so. I like to know from someone who has done this before if they feel it was worth it? Also like suggestions of worthwhile sites to visted, i've already been on the gvi site. One last question, any good ideas for fund raising? Thanks for your help. you sound like a really cool genuine kind of person so well done bravo and keep thinking the way you do. as for volunteering i have just applied to become a samaritan (duno whether you have heard of them but they are an "expanding and rapidly expanding" at that group of individuals who are kind of agony aunts for people who are in emotional dilemma or having a hard time through their life's path. I too like yourself wanted to be able to make a difference to the communtiy and if i was able to offer a kind ear or if i had contributed to helping just one person think twice b4 taking their own life then that would surely be better than any job or any money in the world. as for cool websites , have you tried loggin on to www.3smartcubes.com or www.tickle.com???? my fave kind of stuff. you can obtain more advice on volunteering on your local community page website or from the yellow pages, good luck and keep up the cool frame of mind. Try the NGOs in Switzerland they recruit for different countries otherwise the peace corp. You get good experience in volunteering. What exactly are you fund raising for? My advice for fund raising...don't be afraid to ask people for money. If you don't ask, they won't give it to you. The worst they can say is no. |
