Has anyone taught classes though the Red Cross or similiar organizaiton?

I would like to teach first aid, CPR and possibly other classes through the Red Cross or another organization. Has anybody done this? Is it difficult to get accepted into the instructor position? Do you get paid anything? I don't expect to make much because it's something I believe is important for people to know, but I'm just curious. Any other comments or advice would be nice.
Thanks in advance.

I taught basic and advanced lifesaving and gave swimming lessons for the Red Cross for several summers in college, and it bacically worked out to be beer money.
You will have to take an instructors' course in order to be a certified instructor for the subject you want to teach. I had my Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification.
I went through the CPR adult/child course and it was all volunteer, but if you plan a career in emergency medical services. The network that you are invloved with will get you the references that you need to get hired.
