What does it take for a nonprofit to operate in multiple states?

If a nonprofit is incorprated in one state and has received tax exempt status, is there anything preventing the organization from doing work in other states? If so, what steps must be taken to do so?

Incorporation in one state as "Non profit" does not automatically confer the same status in all other states. The tax exemption varies from state to state depending on their fiscal policies !! Source(s): i
Nope. You are good to go as far as tax exempt status.
