What's the best way to get an editorial assistant job? |
I am interested in being an editorial assistant. What kind of experience would I need for this? I am an English graduate who has been out of work for a year. I say I have been writing a novel, but I have really been taking some time off. What are my chances of landing one of these jobs? It is good news that a new writer is in the offing !!. An Editor is expected to develop an insight in the News which he is presenting to the readers. It should be imaginative, easily understandable, and should be presented in an interesting manner. Please go through editorials of leading magazines and try to write similar writings with your touch. BEST OF LUCK !!Do you actually want to be an editorial assistant with the view to becoming a writer or just an editorial assistant to become an editor? I say this, because if it's the former, then you're better off doing a journalism course, if it's the latter then it's a simple case of finding all the publications you'd like to work for and then sending out your CV en masse. If you can, do some work experience on a publication in the meantime or some larger companies offer a graduate scheme - just make sure you don't leave it too long as you may not be deemed a 'fresh graduate' and they may not consider you! I suggest searching the list of jobs available at a newspaper; magazine company; even a corporation with a advertising department. If you can show your (novel) piece of work to a certain extent, let the interviewer know that this has been one of your projects in your field. Also, emphasize this project in your resume. I think you have an excellent chance. Just EMPHASIZE and get involved in the job market. |
