Did I make a good career choice? |
Ultimately what I'd like to do is become a town or city manager. After I earned my masters, I interned for a town manager for 2 years, then I was the director of a small housing authority for a year... then I took a job with the State as a budget analyst and it went horribly, so after a year I took the first thing I could get, which was a job as a purchasing agent for a large non-profit. It's a high level position in that I report directly to the Chief Administrative Officer and I'm basically a department unto myself, but I'm afraid people will look at my resume and think that I really took a huge step back. Do you think that my most recent move is going to hold me back to more support-role jobs, or do you think it will add positively to my variety of experience for potential public management positions? no i dnt think so, infact ppl are gonna take it in a positive way. ill advice u to stick to ur job for abt few years and search for promotions rather than changing jobs. by chaning so many jobs ull feel uncomfortable. just try to stick in ur department and try gain high positions!!! No. BE a topper in what you do. My dear Friend. Your goal is fine. But your career so far is checkered !. I suggest that you should choose a profession without any further delay, and climb the ladder to reach the top, slowly but steadily !! BEST OF LUCK !!!! |
