What are the prospects for work for someone with experience and training as an Arts Administrator?

I've spent 6 years running a non-profit performing arts organization and have greatly enjoyed it. I'm trying to decide between 2 different fields of study right now - Audio Engineering and Arts Management. I live near Hollywood, and can't leave the area because of the custody arrangement for my kids. My true love lies in Arts Management, but I suspect that job prospects (with good pay) are probably not that plentiful! The organization I've run for the last few years is not in a position yet to provide pay. It's still an all-volunteer group. So that's not really an option now that I have to actually support myself.

Try this web site:

www.opportunitynocs.org

I've found it to have comprehensive listings of non-profit jobs, including arts management positions.

While it's true that arts administrators are not as sought after as some professions, positions DO exist. You can also try checking the web sites of particular organizations you might like to work for.

Best of luck!! Source(s): Eleven years experience in arts administration
