Should I learn nursing or just find a job? |
I graduated last December, majoring in marketing, but it was really hard to find a "real" marketing job in Australia, most jobs are about sales. It has much pressure and is not a stable job. I got the offer of Bachelor of nursing, and it will start within 2 weeks. The reason I applied is being a nursing you could find job easily (still?) and the pay is ok. But I am really not sure if I will like to be a nurse and if the job is suitable for me. what if it isn't? I heard that nursing is really hard to study, you need to put many efforts . but I am already 26, I am afraid if it is right to learn something totally new for me. Sometimes I feel I lost myself. You basically answered your own question. Is nursing for you? When you find yourself in this situation you have to plan your career. A job hunt is just a job hunt until we come to that point in our lives where we want to set our feet upon a new path. When the traditional job hunt doesn't work very well at all. A life changing job hunt requires a different approach. You are contemplating a radical shift in direction. A career change can be costly and damage your self-esteem and self-worth if not done properly. It involves a deliberate process, which will take you to a career choice(s). Here are some sites that can help you plan a career change. Job Hunters Bible - My favorite. I have taught their system to hundreds of people with great results. Richard N. Bolles, America's dean of Career Consultants, heads the company and is also the author of the book, 'What Color Is Your Parachute.' http://www.JobHuntersBible.com U. S. Department of Labor Occupational Outlook Handbook http://www.bls.gov/oco/ CareerBuilder.Com http://www.careerbuilder.com/jobseeker/j... The Princeton Review Career Quiz - Free. A brief 24-part questionnaire related to the Birkman Method, with intriguing career suggestions. http://www.review.com/career/careerquizh... The RHETI Test - Free. Related to the Enneagram http:/www.9types.com/ Tests for Sale Analyze My Career - Aptitude tests, personality tests, occupation interests, entrepreneurial index. http://www.AnalyzeMyCareer.com John Holland's Self-Directed Search http://www.self-directed=searc... Other Career Tests and Sites http://www.assessment.com/ http://web.tickle.com/take/online-career... http://careerplanning.about.com/mbody.ht... http://www.ncda.org/ Peace and every blessing! Do what your heart desires and try to be patient in searching for a job so that you can get the exact job you studied for and at the end of the day you will see the fruit of your labour. i think its better u choose a career that suits your personality and the one that you know that you can enjoy I think that if you want to go and become a nurse. It would not be that hard. My mother is a nurse, her job is stressfull but is a constantly running around job, she works in the ER. My mom loves excitement and helping people. But you could always get a job in a small docs office. I think you should keep an open mind and try everything that appeals to you. You are ONLY 26 you have alot of life in front of you and you should try everything that sparks your interest. You can always change your mind again later Lifes about expierences get as many of them as you can Good luck & be happy with the decision you make Go for it if you don't like where its heading or if its to hard you can take another path along the way, you could find more interesting or easier bits to nursing but you won't no till you try it ,It would be worse if you looked back and wondered what if ,you might surprise yourself if might also be just perfect. |
