Getting my foot in the door? |
I have not been to college yet. :( My goal. I want to get my foot in the door with physical therapy and work my way up and then when i get situated with the new job and learnign new things I can go to college for physical therapy. what are some things or places I can get my foot in the door with entry level being my only experience 8 ( The only job you will qualify for in a therapy office is a clerical or technical position...answering phones, tidying up the gym, etc. You can try to find employment as a PT technician (sometimes called an aide) where you will help the therapists a little more directly. There are even technical programs where you can get a certification as a PT tech (but personally, for a $8-9 an hour job, I don't think it's worth it...you can learn the tech job with on the job training). Just know, however, that being a PT tech does not necessarily increase your chances of getting into PT school. All PT students are required to do a minimum of 50 hours of employment or education in the clinic prior to getting into the program. More isn't necessarily better...they are just looking for the fact that you've completed it. Yet, I think becoming a PT tech/aide will be an invaluable learning experience...whether you get into PT school or not. Good luck. Source(s): PT working at a salon |
