Just needing some opinions reg. job? |
I work for a physcian that treats his employees like family...not strick at all with anything....which i guess makes up for...no health benifits or 401k.......a job opp. came across for me today...it pays 5 bucks more than i am making now...has 401k and health benifits....but i will be working for a huge physican practiace that is further away...? right now i have my own personal office and really dont have anyone above me beside the dr himself and his wife.... i know money talks and i am really stressed that the drs wife (who im real close with) is going to freak. help...what would you gusy do? I've learned that money should not always be your main motivator. HOWEVER, if you feel comfortable at your new potential job and think that you will like it there, I say go for it. The monthly increase is approx $800 (pre-tax), so that's nothing to sneeze at. Also, the health coverage and 401(k) is a benefit that greatly exceeds the $400 monetary increase. Individual health coverage could easily run $600/month! So the increase is actually more like $1200 a month. Another thing you may want to try is asking for a raise or increase in salary from your current employer. Let them know you have an offer, but would love to stay on if you can negotiate a higher salary and benefits. They may not be able to match the other job, but the increase may been enough to entice you to stay. Good luck in whatever you decide. And congrats on the job offer! :-) Source(s): Left my $13/hour job for one that pays $20/hour. My remorse level-ZIPPO! Ask for a raise... explain to them the situation. If they really like you, they will take care of you. You have to do what's best for your career. They will understand. If not, that's their problem. GO FOR AN INTERVIEW AND SEE HOW YOU YOU LIKE THE LARGER OFFICE. IT SEEMS LIKE A GOOD DEAL TO ME Tell the doctors wife about the other job offer expressing that you don't want to leave but the combination of both higher salary and benefits is making it hard. Ask if they can offer you any of the above to help make your decision. Sometimes you have to sacrifice conveinence to grow your self. hope this helps Explain how much you enjoy your job & working relationships and then negotiate for medical and retirement benefits. Show examples of comparable jobs and their compensation packages. Explain how important these benefits are to you. Alternatively, ask to be paid as a self-employed, independent contractor so that you may become eligible to join professional organizations that offer these benefits, such as the National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE). If your employers are unwilling to work with you to obtain these benefits, weigh the importance of the trade-offs you are making before deciding to take another position. Best of luck to you. http://www.bigbadboss.com http://www.nase.org/ |
