I would like to know more about a job in the Medical Billing and Coding field.? |
Examples How do you go about doing this from home? Who actually hires you if you work from home a doctor? Is it a horribly boring job? How much do you make?etc It is not a boring job...it can become repetitive depending on what type of practice you work for. It can also be stressful at times...especially trying to keep up with the constant changing codes,diagnosis codes as well as medicaid/medicaid guidelines and laws. It took me about 3 years of experience in the field to find a physician that would allow me to work from home. A lot of Dr's aren't very fond of the idea due to hippa laws....and not being able to monitor the employee. Physicians are very picky about their billing....if you notice a lot of Dr's have the same biller work for them for years and years....its very hard when starting out because you basically have to sell yourself the the physician...because you are the one that brings his money in...if u don't bill correctly he doesn't get paid. you also have to gain his trust. Depends on your experience your pay gets better...when i first started i was only making...6.50hr...no benefits. I'm making triple hat now but it took almost 4 years to get there. the great thing is you learn something new everyday...No matter how long you have done this...you com across different situations everyday which keeps you interested. I would suggest trying to work in office for a few months then try to contract out to work from home...you Will need a router (i prefer lynksis) and a physician willing to set u up remotely to access their system from home.
