Nursing school suggestions? |
I am going to take the pre-reqs for nursing school but I have no science background. I was wondering if I should take some intro courses such as biology before I take Microbiology? Would it be advantageous to do this or should I just jump right in? Is microbiology a stand alone class? I also have to take anatomy and physiology. I am in the same position you are in. I am just about to start A&P. From working with lots of nurses I have found that the only way to do it is to jump right in. They wouldnt let you take a microbiolgy class before a regular bio class if they didnt think you could handle it! Good luck! PS Mirobio is by its self.. i know at my school they wont let you take micro or anat. without taking the intro biology course unless you have 1 full year at highschool..... but i took the intro bio course in college and its way differ than highschool bio...if you are unsure of yourself take it. you dont wanna be unprepared for the higher bio classes...good luck in nursing school At my school, the lower division nursing classes have required pre-reqs. A&P, Micro, BioChem, Intro to Chem. What you should really do is check with your advisor because they would really know what you need to do. If you don't have an advisor, I'm sure any faculty in the nursing department on your campus would be happy to help you on your way. Our microbiology course was entitled Infectious Diseases, so it mostly focused on that part of micro. It would have been an interesting course, but the prof was very dry. Good luck.
