Why so anti-military? The Medical Corp is not like the real military...the pay and incentive bonuses are good and the training hospitals great. I spent 23 years, including sr. yr. med school, internship, and ophthalmology residency. I made O-6 (full Col) 8 years before I retired and was able to spend two years in Bangkok, Thailand, 3months in Peru doing surgery 6 days a week. After my eye training at Walter Reed I went to Missouri for one year (my worst tour) and went to Ft Belvoir, Va until I retired. There were very few women in the early days, but now the Uniformed University at Bethesda, MD is 50/50% and there are enough women to create waves. By the way, I got in the Army by marriage...it lasted 7 years but I made a career of it!
