I would really like to go to school for a RN degree in Texas? |
Does anyone know what all i need to do? I have NOOO IDEA how to even get started..what classes I need to sign up for and I also wanted to know what the difference in a associate degree nursing and a RN. I appreciate all of your answers in advance! Thank you!! Try this link http://www.texasnurses.org/careerinfo/sc... Well if I were you I would go get an associates degree 1st. This will allow you to be a nurse upon the passing of your boards. You will be able to do everything any nurse can do in the line of clinical. A B.S. in nursing is good if you would like to move into nursing management or go on to become a nurse practitioner. I say get you A.S. in nursing then take a few classes each semester until you get your B.S.N. You can get great experience if you do ICU or ER or recovery room. That is considered critical care and in order to go on and get in some NP programs you need so many hours of critical care experience. That means by the time you finish your BSN you should have enough hours to start on a NP license if you want. Good luck. If u want to get your degree right away, instead of getting the diploma program, go to the website of ur university of choice in texas and u can see if they have Nursing programs. Now if u think that u will need a student loan to get into a program, u might want to get the diploma program which will enable u to take the board exams and work right away, then continue on to get ur degree. When u have ur degree u can get into graduate programs, like masters in nursing, np etc..so ur choice is really up to u, which one suits u most. good luck and hope u will enjoy this career as much as i do. |
