I want to further my education, I have an associates degree?

What can I do to further my education from an associates degree in Medical Assisting? I know that I can become a RN and such; I'm looking for details as to how I could do it???
Thanks for your help!!!

*By the way, I live in RI now but am considering moving to Texas within 2 years.

First of all, think very hard about why you'd want to be an RN. Don't go into nursing just because of the need, or for the money. Nursing is a profession, not a job.
Secondly, if you are determined to become a nurse, check out local colleges, see who will take the credits you've earned as a Med. Assistant, then plot a course for a BSN. It may still take you 4 yrs, but, hey, four years from now you could still be a Med. Assistant or a Registered Nurse. Your choice. Shop around for a BSN program who will honor the credits you've already earned then go for it.
I was a medical assistant, got an AD in nursing, then my BSN and am now working on a Master's...I started when I was 18..I'm now 50 and still love making a difference in people's lives. Source(s): An old nurse
Check the colleges that have nursing programs for their prerequisites. I live in CA and for most programs you need biology, inorganic and organic chemistry, anatomy, physiology, microbiology, nutrition, life span psychology, statistics, etc. before you can even apply. Thats where you begin. Do well in these classes because most nursing programs, regardless of the state, are impacted and very competitive. You can become a RN earning your associates degree or bachelors degree in nursing and passing the state board examination afterwards. Research the different schools and ADN and BSN programs to see what is right for you.

I am currently completing a B.S. in Healthcare Management thru Bellevue University online. The program lasts 12 months 1 class/month. Most of my classmates are on the clinical side of things, but I work in medical billing and the cours work did not lend itself to either side (more of an overview).
I chose B.U. because it was an actual school- not just online. Go to www.bellevue.edu. or search for online healthcare degrees- you will see quite afew.
A BS in health care would be a likely choice. Nursing schools are very competitive so you'd better start applying if you hope to get accepted any time soon.
