I'm going for an interview to get into nursing school tomorrow...? |
what do you think the interviewers will be looking for? I'll be going for an Adult Nursing Diploma, caring, friendly attitude experience of caring enthusiasm knowledge about what nursing entails Source(s): slightly worrying that youre asking about it the night before on a site like YA motivation, common-sense and sincerity. Good Luck.x Hi they will be looking for people are not afraid of hard work and dealing with difficult and challenging suitations. You need to come across as articulate, but not a know it all and confident. If you have caring experience mention it, if you dont, explain why you want to be a nurse, do say because you want to help people. Try to be a little more orginal with your answers, show appropriate humour. Good luck! Well done on getting an interview! I qualified in 2005 so remember the interview very well! They are looking for a sense of who you are as a person, why you want to actually nurse, what it is that motivates and drives you. They want to see that you are committed to three years hard graft through University, and a life time of hard graft to follow in nursing! They want to see that you are empathetic and have an understanding of what the patient needs from a carer. They want to see that you know exactly what the role entails, the whole concept of holistic care, being aware of the patient as a whole, physically, emotionally, mentally, socially, the patient is not just a body in a bed, it is a whole complex spectrum of different things. They want to know that you are calm in a crisis, and there is no better place to show that than in an interview so try and smile and not look too nervous, but avoid being overconfident as they dont like cocky people. They like to see enthusiasm and a real will to be successful. Unfortunately quite a few students drop out and they want to see that their investment in your training is valid and appropriate, they want to be sure that you are going to complete the course and have the committment and stamina to keep going. If you dont know the answer to a question, dont be afraid to admit you dont know, they appreciate honesty. Make sure you have a few questions prepared in advance to ask them at the end, its good to have a few as they may have answered some of them already during the interview. Make sure you ask positive questions, not things like 'If I fail a paper can I resit it.......', Most of all, be yourself, that is what they truly want to see. Good luck and hope you get in! I've never heard of being interviewed to go to school...weird. But I would think they would ask you why you want to become a nurse, goals, where do you want to work, what inspires you, how many hours your going to work while in school, do you have the time to commit?? Hope that helps hi im a nursing student, all you need to do is be confident, answer questions truthfully, be enthusiastic and show them that your determined and have the right skills to do the job talk about your aims what you have done in the past what makes you good for the job but also acknowledge any weaknesses and how your determined to better your self and what the course would mean to you! hope that helps best of luck |
