On the east coast, how much does a medical assistant make?

I am looking to go to school, but is training for a medical asst worth it? I live in s jersey.

It depends. Are you working for a specialist or primary care? (Specialists generally pay more) How much are you expected to do? (You're going to make less if all you're doing is height and weight and taking the chief complaint of the patient than if you're doing things like EKGs and drawing blood.) It can be anywhere from $8 an hour to $15 an hour depending.

You'd be better off going to school to be a nurse - most community colleges offer the program and you'd have more marketable skills.
IF they can find a job (which is difficult), maybe $1 to $2 bucks an hour more than minimum wage.

No, it's not worth it...it's the latest scam going in education.
