I want a job in sport science/medicine?

I am a fifteen year old entering into sophomore year, and I know for a fact that i belong in a job in the medical feild. Im excellent at science and math, and am very interested in the body and how it works and I have a heart for helping people. But....i hate blood. Cant stand it. Also, I am in many different sports. So, sport science and medicine seems to fit me perfectly. So, what kind of jobs could I start looking into? Im not looking to live in a three story house with a mercedes parked in front, but i do want a comfortable life where i dont have to worry about money tooo much.

Well you are so fortunate to know your calling and at such a relatively young age! I would suggest that since you hate blood, that you instead look into the allied health field that may allow you to practice in the area of sports medicine as perhaps a physical therapist (pt) or exercise physiologist (a lot more jobs as a pt though :) since even if one specializes in sports medicine as a resident (student doctor), they almost certainly will have to deal with blood at some point.

The PT typically needs a master's degree. There are doctoral programs for the pt though I believe that that is mainly to teach or work in the area of research. It is actually supposed to be extremely competitive getting into a pt program, even more difficult than medical school some used to say. One is said to basically need a 4.0 gpa (grade point average) in their prerequisite courses though not sure if that applies to one's overall gpa. And each college may have slightly different prereq's along with it being a good idea for a person to look at various schools as opposed to one or two. Wishing you the best of luck in your endeavors!

P.S. I realize that you are very intelligent, but please remember Not to inhale any types of fumes or solvent (also known as 'huffing' or inhalants) to get a cheap, quick high. A friend has a traumatic brain injury (tbi) from huffing when she was just 12, now in her 30's. She also has bone marrow (fatty inner lining of the bones) damage which causes a grating at the back of the neck when nodding. For more info on the dangers of inhalants: National Inhalant Prevention Coalition www.inhalants.org Source(s): US Occupational Outlook Handbook: www.bls.gov/oco and can search 'sports medicine', 'physical therapist', 'athletic trainer' (though the AT doesn't have nearly as many opportunties as the PT) or such.
