ok, i am perfectly capable of achieving either one. BUT-i really dont care about being a supervisor, or making more money. i like medical knowledge, and all i care about is making a difference in peoples lifes. would i be suited for the assistant just as i would be suited for the therapist career????
be a assistant, then a magician can saw you in half! You would not necessarily be a supervisor if you are an occupational therapist. Often and assistant it directly supervised by someone other than the therapist. If you are capable of doing both and don't mind putting the time into it, go for the one that pays better! Be the therapist. I'm sure you are aware that it takes quite a bit longer to become an OT than it does a COTA. If that truly doesn't matter to you I would suggest going for the OT. Like someone else said you won't "have to" supervise others, in fact many OTs work independently for themselves and without any employees. I don't think you will ever regret becoming an OT, however if you go the COTA road you may someday wish you had taken the more challenging path and find yourself back in school, or simply wishing you had done things differently.
