Associate's degree? |
I don't want to sound naiive or anything, but what kind of job or career can a student with an associate's degree in nursing from a community college get into ? Sorry, but I disagree with KM, you can get management positions with an Associate's degree. I am a Director of Nursing with an ADN, and have no desire to go on for my BSN.... why? I have been able to climb the ladder without it. It comes down to a position that requires a BSN OR equivalent... meaning if you have the experience, that will suit them fine. If you complete the LPN program, you can be an LPN. Same with an RN program. they are most likely a registered nurse and can work wherever they can find a job. that being hospital, clinic or doctors office. Associates Degree in Nursing will get you eligible to take the national test to become a registered nurse. You can work most anywhere a RN with a bachelors degree can. You take the exact same national test the BSN students do. The only differences is in some states to be a school nurse you have to have your BSN, also if you want to do management positions you need your BSN. But other wise a RN is a RN whether you have a ADN or a BSN. Good luck!!! |
