Please help! (UK ppl only)?? |
If you went to college in the United States and became a BSN, and you are moving to the UK, what do you have to do to become registered in the UK? Thanks :) Brittany Hi, you have to apply to the NMC, the Nursing and Midwifery Council. As you will be coming from outside the European Union, from 1 September 2006 the only route to registration with the NMC will be through the Overseas Nurses Programme (ONP). All applicants who apply for nurse registration and who meet NMC minimum requirements will be required to undertake all or part of the ONP. The ONP sets out common entry standards, a compulsory 20-day period of protected learning for all nurses trained outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and, where appropriate, a period of supervised practice. Every applicant will have to pass the specified International English language test (IELTS) before they can apply to go onto the ONP. That should however not be a problem for you coming from the US! The best place to find all the small print and entry criteria is on the NMC website, have a look under the Overseas section and you should be able to find all the information you need. Good luck! http://www.nmc-uk.org/adefault.aspx... |
