Is pharmacy a good career? |
can someone please inform me about the advantages and disadvantages of taking up pharmacy as a career, and i also will like to know if it is easy to find a job with a degree in pharmacy........i am 16 yrs and going into college nxt year. Ya, pharmacy is a great career. My dad is a pharmacist and he is well respected. Everyday he drives an 1.5 hours to work (even though he doesn't need to) and still has plenty of time each week. My dad owned a business while being a pharmacist for a few years. Being a pharmacist, you have plenty of job opportunities, you don't just have to work in a hospital. You can work more than 1 jobs at once if you want to. Pharmacy is very lucrative too. You can go to any pharmacy school and still get a great job. Lastly, while it is not as profitable as being a surgeon/doctor, it is less years in college. yeah it is my dad owns his own pharmacy and a lot of my cousins are going to be pharmacists I heard the demand for pharmacists is increasing It also seems like very dull work. How many years can you count pills day after day? If you like being a DRUG DEALER *drums* HA, i love that one.... No seriously, i dont know anything about pharmacy but i can already think of one advantage. You learn and know your medicine, very well. If you or your child or your spouse gets sick, you know the right medicine to give all ya'lls and you dont have to pay a fortune just to go to a doctor Case closed ...and opened.... .... and closed again.... hi wendee, Hey, Congrats on choosing pharmacy as your profession. The advantages of being a pharmacists are: 1) You can get a million dollar insurance on your license for less than $500 per year 2) You rarely get sue 3) You get paid 75-150K per year STARTING OUT!!! 4) You'll have flexible work hours 5) You are one of the most trusted profession in the US Needless to say more...Pharmacy is a great profession with a bright future! The disadvantages: 1) Same thing everyday 2) You have to deal with bad customers/patients 3) Sometimes you have to ring up women's tampons and underwear/bras if you work in the retail environment Well if you are still interested in pharmacy, please visit http://www.getintopharmacyschoolnow.com... Good Luck! Pharmacists are very much in demand, with starting pay at about $75,000 per year. The up side is that the job itself is not very difficult unless you are compounding drugs (something which is done less and less by pharmacists); the downside is the schooling since pharmacists go to school for nearly as long as physicians do. I have quite a few clients who are pharmacists and who own their own pharmacies. The only complaints I hear aren't about being a pharmacist but rather having to deal with all the problems that come with owning a business. |
