What does a CNA do? |
I was thinking about going to school to be a CNA. What exactly does a CNA do? Do you have to work in a nursing home/independant living home, or can you work in other areas? Is going to school to be a CNA worth it?? I think it is better to be a RMA. Registered Medical Assistant. There is more money in involved and the people you work with are not bottom of the barrel on such a massive level. Becoming a CNA is pretty simple. They do work in nursing homes/assisted living/hospitals, pretty much anywhere nurses are. CNA's do vital signs, answer call lights, of course doing the whole "wiping butts" thing. CNA's do alot of the dirty work taking care of patients. They do all the really crappy work the LPNs don't want to do. Instead of wasting your time learning to be a CNA and make minimum wage the rest of your life... spend a year and become a LPN or LVN and make some REAL money... and then YOU can order around the CNA's. CNAs- its a simple 3 month course that teaches you become a slave for the higher ups...like the Registered Nurses. U typically have to take care of the elderly (give them baths and help them with bodily functions...) If u do at home care u will probably have to do all of that plus chores for them. I would suggest u go into something that u will enjoy a little bit more...but then again we do need CNAs because they are a big help in the community. CNAs provide direct care for those who can't do it for themselves. Activities of daily living, they're called. Bathing, eating, cleaning up (showering, etc) attending to their needs in the restroom... etc.. I found a site that gives you a pretty good idea of what CNAs do.. http://www.angelfire.com/co2/cnaworld/... I've been a CNA in the past Hey I went to shool for cna and I ended up getting a job that I didn't even need it. I am working for disabled children and you can too. the pay is 16.28 per hour and you could pick up as many clients as you can handle go to your local Department of Mrdd and ask for a app to become a Individual Provider they will help you with the whole process good luck to you |
