To become and Ultrasound Technician(Songographer)? |
I was wondering if anyone here is studying to become an Ultrasound Technician. I'm looking into going into a part of the medical field when I graduate(still a freshman but I want to start thinking about it so I can base my plan around it.) If you are, can you tell me how long you'd have to be in college, if you must go to another school after a four year college, and if you know, which schools are best for this area? Also, if you are an Ultrasound Technician, then I'd appreciate any opinions or advice you have. I'm really interesting in working with something involving pregnancy. Thank you so much. You just need to go to a 4 year school to have a degree in RDMS (radial digital medical sonography). But here's the thing; if you want to do the preggo thing, that's cool. However, RDMS is a wide field; Ultrasound imaging can range from obstetrics to cardiology....be prepared to learn it ALL because you won't have much of a choice until you get that degree. THEN, you can go to a hospital and say, "I have this degree, but I want my specialty to be in obstetrics." Then you get accepted into a fellowship program and you're pretty much all set from there, chickie. Good luck! There is a lot more to sonography than ultrasounds for pregnancy.
