Do you think its possible to be a firefighter and work a part time job as a Registered nurse? Depends on what kind of nurse you want to be. You could get a part time job as an RN, and then make sure you are scheduled for the same hours all the time, so you can also work as a firefighter. As I understand, firemen also have "call time" where they have to stay at the station---so obviously you couldn't be expected to report for nursing duty at the same time. I would think you would need b-lls of steel to put up with the stress of both jobs at the same time though. Nursing is a stressful job- and I think firefighting probably is too. Source(s): Im a nurse I think it'll be a little hectic. The best suggestion that I have for you is to ask a Registered nurse & a firefighter that question. I think there may be conflict between the two positions, unless you have scheduled days for both positions and that allow for sleep time in between shifts. Well it all depends on if you want to be a paid or volunteer firefighter. The department I am on is strictly volly but we have alot of our ff's that work in hospitals, ambulances. If you are thinking about doing it working full time on a paid dept you would have to see what that dept policy is on having other jobs and what kind of schedule that dept has.Other than that if you can get over those hurdles then by all means go for it.The medical profession needs more people lol. |
