Can A 12 Year old get a Job with video games or the internet?

Hi my name is Adam, I am 12 years old and I LOVE video games, I normally play world of warcraft but I also have a PS2, X-BOX, and a NES... I want to get a job that pays.... at least 5 $ an hour or maybe even a LOT! I really want to help a little with my house and even have a lil spending money for myself cause my mom lost her job not too long ago and I would really like to pay for maybe food.... is there any jobs that pay on the internet or even video game testing???? THANKS!

-Adam

You sound like a very talented and special person to want to help your mom out that way though I don't know that there are any legitimate jobs from online, and I don't want someone or some wayward "company" taking advantage of you. Perhaps with your mom's permission, you can offer your neighbors someone to either wash their car or mow their lawn by drawing up a flyer. Please, however, do Not go into anyone's house to talk with them or 'get paid'. It's just much safer that way regardless of how well you believe that you know them.

And just a word to the wise about something unrelated, please do Not use inhalants, also called huffing, sniffing, bagging, glading or chroming. A friend has a traumatic brain injury (tbi) and other permanent damage including to her bone marrow (the fatty inner lining of the bones that cushions joints and makes blood cells) from huffing (inhaling fumes from household or industrial products such as glue, paint, gasoline or any aerosol spray can) when she was just 12 years of age, now in her 30's.

And on a similar note, please stay way from 'the choking game' also called 'space monkey' or 'the pass out game' where someone puts something around their neck to pass out or get a lightheadedness similar to huffing but just as inhalants, 'the choking game' can cause a stroke ('brain attack') as well as other damage and even death. Don't mean to lecture but those are two things that seem innocuous or innocent but it couldn't be further from the truth!

The National Inhalant Prevention Coaliton has a website to learn more about the dangers of huffing: www.inhalants.org Stay safe, and be well!
well.

im pretty sure you know about the Child labor Law (AKA the dumbest law ever)...but i have a friend, Nikko, (17 yrs.) who gets paid BIG MONEY each year to play Halo. I'm not sure if it still qualifies for anyone under the ages of 14-16 but it depends on where you live.

I respect ANYONE who wants a job in Video Games.
they have an interst a lot of people frown upon
and those people should make like lemmings and jump off a cliff.

Adam, you can't legally be hired in the US at the age of twelve. Yer just a kid. Enjoy it. It won't last forever. Sorry you are having a hard time, but your employer will be committing a crime if he/she hires you. Follow your passions, but don't expect a paying position with a reputable company for a few more years.
