I just graduated from nursing school, but I haven't taken my boards yet, can i start working in the hospital?

Are there any special work programs for new unlicensed grads?

Most states will issue you a permit to work temporarily while waiting to take your boards. I think it's good for about 60-90 days or something.

Just make sure you keep your employer posted as to when you are taking the exam. And if you fail the first time, don't stress - most employers are very understanding and will hold your position until you are able to pass. Source(s): RN
Oh ya, I worked in a hospital before I took my boards. Just check out different facilities and rules for your state. This was 11yrs ago, so maybe it's changed, but I don't see why it would have!!

Have a good one
