Nursing-how do i get in?

I've applied for an access course in nursing but there are only 2 places left, i'm through to the 2nd interview but i'm one of about 10 people competing for these places. It's a university interview as the access course has guaranteed places at the end and this will determine if I get in. Any ideas on how i can make a better impression than everyone else? I looked after my grandfather for 10 years through Huntington's disease and feel this is my vocation. I also possess 7 GCSE's at level 2 including biology and chemistry. Now i'm mature and more settled, I'm desperate to get in! Thanks everyone.

I would apply to as many nursing colleges/universities as possible even if it means you have to move to a different area. You sound an ideal person to be a nurse with your qualifications and skills you gained from looking after your grandfather with Huntington's disease.
Just remain positive, enthusiastic and mention your practical skills you feel you gained when nursing your grandfather.
Huntington's disease is a very sad but challenging disease. You would have needed lots of care, empathy and patience for nursing someone with Huntington's.

You may want to do your general training and then do your Psychiatric training especially if you feel that looking after a client with Huntington's disease "your vocation"
I wish you all the best. Source(s): RN
If you don't get in at this one, apply to another. If you've made it to the 2nd interview, you're probably ok. Good luck!
Just be yourself. Your experience and belief that this is your true calling should definitely count for something.
You sound like a very genuine and caring person, with plenty qualifications to begin your career in nursing.

I'm no expert, but why not talk to other nurses, at your local hospital or doctors surgery, and ask them how they got started.
Also, some charities, such as Macmillan cancer support, they are always looking for people to work as nurses and carers.

Also, any contacts you make as above, may give you a reference to assist you in making that better impression.

It may take time, but have confidence in yourself, keep on looking, and keep on trying.
You WILL get there in the end.

Take care, good luck, and I hope everything works out for you.
I think you deserve it.
when you get your 2nd interview they will see that you are perfect for the course.also mention the experiance that youvre had with your grandfather.and dont exaggerate anything.just belive that youl get it.good luck
It sounds like you're intelligent, mature, experienced, committed, caring and dedicated to a nursing career. You won't have a problem...they'll bite your hand off x
