Speech Language Pathologist or Occupational Therapist???

which, in ur opinion, is more interesting? what r the pros and cons of each?

I think SLP is more interesting. You have so many options of where you want to work and what you want to specialize in (articulation, language, aphasia, dysphasia, geriatrics, peds, autism, augmentative and alternative communication, traumatic brain injury, stroke patients, apraxia, dyslexia, motor speech disorders, etc.)

I think speech is so dynamic and different everyday.

However, I am almost and SLP (so I am biased). OT is extremely important, but I prefer speech and language to other activities of daily living. To me, the ability to communicate your wants, needs, feelings, and thoughts is paramount to everything else besides breathing and eating. Source(s): I am an SLP grad student
I think as an SLP you would make more money, it wouldn't be as much lifting, pushing and pulling of overweight people and you can dress nicer :) I think it depends on your personality as to which would be a better fit for you.
SLP, by far. The workings of the brain have always been a fascination of mine, plus I love life science. SLP (medically oriented) is the perfect marriage of the two.
Althought it requires more initial schooling (MA/MS, plus a 9mo, full-time fellowship), you will have greater earning potential as an SLP, particularly if you are in private practice. Another plus is you won't have to deal with teaching a patient how to wipe their butt or crawl into a shower with a patient the way many OTs do. Their work can be pretty monotonous, too, whereas you will have several different types of patients with different diagnoses in one day, and your goals and approaches will be different with each one.
I think there are more jobs available in more settings for SLPs, as well. I was never without a job for more than 2 weeks. If I got sick of a setting, I could change pretty much at the drop of a hat.
I was a SLP for 20 years.
