How many years do I have to spend to become a Registered Nurse? |
And how about Nurse Practitioner? 1) Associates Degree in Nursing ( ADN) takes 2 years 2) Bachelors Degree in Nursing ( BSN) takes 4 years. 3) Nurse Practitioner would require an additional 2 years, depending on which school that you attend. There are some programs that are condensed so that you can become a Nurse Practitioner with 2 additional years. Otherwise, it would take an additional 3 years. ( To the best of my knowledge). If you a nurse assT it will not take you long, but to be a Nurse you are looking about years or more! RN takes 4 years to get your BSN, and the if you want to be an NP, you go 2 years more after getting your BSN. RN There are many different ways to become an R.N. For instances, in your state there might be diploma programs. Usually, those are available at a hospitals, they are very rare but still good. These programs last around a year and a half once you graduated you will have a diploma in nursing, you can sit for the NCLEX and become and R.N. (pending you pass). Also, you might be award an Associates Degree depending on if that hospital (or organization) is affiliated with a community college. Then you have the option of going to a community college for nursing and earn your A.S.N-Associates of Science in Nursing which takes 2-years going full time. Lastly, you can take the more "traditional" route and go to a college or university and major in nursing which will take your standard 4-years. To be a Nurse Pracitioner, that includes at a mininum an additional year of college. However, to be admitted into these programs you need your B.S.N. even though there are programs available where you can just have a diploma, these are call R.N.-M.S.N. Depending on if you want to specialize in a certain area of nursing i.e. pediatrics, geriatrics, ob/gyn, orthopedics or even anesthesiology there are additional years of education and training; up to 3 years. 2 years |
