How can I become an RN from a CMA? |
My aunt is a CMA & she said that there are different things you have to be certified in before you become a RN, but I don't know what! To become a RN you have to receive at least an associates degree, so basically you have to go back to school. If you went to college for medical assisting then you probably have most of the prerequisite classes needed to begin a nursing program, but if you went to business school for it you will have to take all the prereqs first, which will take at least 3 semesters. Most nursing programs are hard to get into so make sure you keep your GPA high to improve your chances. It is hard work, but stick it out and you can do it. Good luck. Source(s): CMA, currently finishing school for RN. college credits Do you mean a Certified Nursing Assistant? A CNA? A CNA takes about 11 days of training and an RN takes a minimum of 2 years. Contrary to what this person said below me - it does take only 11 days of training to become a CNA and it costs around $1,000 and most employers pay it. It usually takes 9 months of schooling to be a medical assistant and they barely make more than a CNA. RN takes a minimum of 2 years. LPN takes 1 year of training. I work with people in this field contantly. You have to have a Bachelor's Degree to become an RN which means you have to attend college for four years. It's a BA in Science with a specialty in nursing you should start by in enrolling yourself in a nursing program, then take it from there....good luck |
