I worked for company x for about 9 years. I went on medical leave and when I returned was written up for poor work performance. I have held my current job for about 8 years and there was only a few critique things I had to fix. (I was a medical coder (ICD-9CM) I was then told I would be monitored, etc.so I freaked and was double asking myself everything i already knew and such, to cover my bases. well 3 weeks later I as terminated "discharged" for not meeting standards..etc.. my unemployment was okay till I started my new per diem job, mind you I can't seem to get employment in my field currently so I switched carreers for a while. Well now they are denying my claim and asking for all the money the paid me back because "I falsified being discharged, that I was fired for misconduct?. no where on my letter of termination does it read misconduct. Now I have to request a hearing I am scared to do this, anyone have any advice/? thoughts or have you been there? Is my college degree shot?
Request the hearing and have your letter of termination with you. Sounds like you have a good case. Don't let them intimidate you into not going to the hearing. I am so sorry to hear about your misfortune. I worked in a textile mill for 16 years (first real job I ever had) Here I was in my late 30s with no skills and no job. I was able to attend school full time on the goverments dime. I felt like this was finally my chance! Now I am in health care and cannot seem to find my place in the world. I cannot help you much, but I can relate to your problem. Everything will be ok in the end.
