What should i have prepared?

I'm about to go and apply for employment in Georgetown University Hospital. I am a new registerend nurse with a BSN Degree. I have my RN License, but what shall i bring with me? I know i have to bring my resume, but what else is going to be neede? Also, what are some ways that i can make a good impression towards them and raise my chances of getting accepted for employment?

It might be a good idea to take ID as they often ask for things like a passport or drivers licence to confirm your identity, often they will stipulate on their interview letter the things that they would like to see. If you have a portfolio of work it may be nice to take that along too, for example, certificates, courses attended, letters of commendation, exam results.

Making a good impression? Obviously dressing smartly, taking care over your appearance, fresh breath, clean shoes, tidy hair, etc. Arriving a little early is a good idea, you dont want to arrive all flustered and breathless, sweaty and panicking. Good to find out where have to go and do a bit of exploring beforehand so you know where the interview venue is. Make sure you have a few questions to ask them at the end, sensible questions such as what opportunities are there for further study? Or what is the ratio of patients to nurses? Its good to have a few questions prepared as you never know, some of your questions may be answered in the interview already. Remember body language, make eye contact, but not in a scary way, no toe tapping, no picking at things, try to avoid nervous laughter, might be difficult but you want to appear confident. Confident but not cocky. If you dont know the answer to a question dont try to bluff it as they will know. Just be honest and say it is not in your experience. They might give you scenarios, just dont rush, think before you speak and remember, they arent trying to catch you out, they want you to be successful as they want to employ you, you just have to prove that you are the best person for the job. Look interested and dont let your attention wander, a nice firm handshake at the beginning and end and thank them for their time. Be sure to mention any particular skills you could bring to their area and be enthusiastic about their organisation. Above all smile and look like you are enjoying meeting them, even if you are a nervous wreck inside. Try and be balanced, dont over talk, but then again, try not to give short answers.

Good luck with it, fingers crossed for you, I have an interview myself tomorrow (nursing) so know what you are going through!
I have interviewed nurses. We always asked to see their license during the interview. We did not ask for driver's license, ss card, or passport etc. until we offered the job because we did not want to know how old they were. That avoids the possibility of age discrimination.

As you already know, there is a nationwide shortage of nurses. You should not have any trouble getting a job.
