Surgical physician assistants performing abortions? |
Are they required to? Could I work for a specific type of surgeon who doesn't perform abortions, or is it all in the mix? In just about any job in the medical field, you have the opportunity to conscientiously object to participating in any procedure that compromises your personal morals and ethics. I am an antepartum/labor & delivery nurse, and there are times when I am asked to take a patient assignment where a mother is sick with some kind of medical condition that necessitates the premature induction of non-viable fetuses (prior to 23 weeks gestation) when the outcome is certain death of the infant. I signed a contract with my hospital that states that I will not participate in these "therapeutic" abortions. When interviewing for jobs, you should ask potential employers about this. First of all, you should not be doing abortions. You are killing an innocent life. You should be ashamed of yourself for even considering working for someone who performs abortions. Think if you were pregnant and had an abortion and everytime mothers day came along you would be thinking about your DEAD CHILD. This is coming from a mother also. Don't worry. Medical professionals may decline to be a part of a procedure that goes against their conscience or moral/religious views. I commend you for your pro-life stand! Mother of 4 |
