Nursing student............?

I am beginning in a RN program. I know this sounds stupid but I want to be an OB nurse but dont know if I can take seeing someone give birth, especially a csection. I want to help to-be mothers and love to care for people will this go away further in my program?

I believe so. Many surgeons pass out when they first cut into a patient. And then, after a few tries, it's nothing to them.

Here's what I think: If you keep telling yourself that you can't take watching someone give birth or receive a C-section, then you won't succeed. Everyone has their glitches, and this is one of yours. You just need to power through.

If your squeamishness is serious enough, maybe you could talk to a counselor? He/she could help you develop strategies for you to use. However, I think you will be fine. I believe you will get used to it.
See what you are comfortable with.
When you do the clinical in the OB rotation you have take part in a certain amount. It's unlikely you will see a C-Section since that's in the OR.
hm I'm young, only 16. but I am too interested in that, I want to help mothers/work in the birthing unit, but seeing a birth I don't think would bother me I am not squeamish like that, but I don't know if I'd like sticking my hand up THERE on other people, it might be awkward! But, you have time to think about it before you take the extra steps after becoming an RN to becoming a specialized one, don't you? Best of luck!!
