Should I attend a two year college and if so can I become a RN? |
Is it harder going to a year round college ? Many schools have 2 year RN programs - check with community colleges near where you live. Admission is usually very competitive. Good luck. No you cannot become an RN in two years, you will first need to complete prerequisites then go into the RN program and that will take two years, so for RN its about 4 years total. Good luck! www.extracasheachmonth.com www.extracasheachmonth.com I'm not sure what you mean by year round college. A two year college, or community college, offers an Associate Degree in Nursing, which makes you eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse. The nursing courses themselves take 2 years to complete, 4 semesters in length. Many people take longer than that because you need to complete prerequisite courses prior to starting nursing classes, and if you're smart you should get your general education courses done while waiting to get into a nursing program too, because the nursing courses are tough, and 6 credits feels like 12. A four-year university or college requires you to complete most of your general eduation courses prior to starting the nursing program, which begins in the junior year. These schools give you a Bachelor of Science (or Arts) in Nursing. They are, as I said, four year schools, going two semesters per year. Almost every school does not require you to go to school year round or include mandatory summer courses, however many students use summer semester to fulfill general education courses and end up attending school year round. RN Sure If you want to become an RN, you need to allow 1-2 years of prerequisites for nursing school (Microbiology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, biology, organic chemistry, public speaking, statistics, etc). Then, once you are accepted into nursing school it is usually a 3 year program from there. Basically, it will take 4-5 years for you to become an RN. |
