Help! I work at a hospital and am a Cpht; I have a job offer as a HUC with less money...but I have a degree... |
Hi, I work at a hospital as a CPhT but have a job offer as a HUC(health unit coordinator) for .53 cents less an hour....BUT I have a Bachelor of Science in Business in an Area of Business Administration degree.......should I go ahead and accept the new position even with the less money because it relates to my degree and may help me in the future....I plan on keeping my CPhT license current so I could go back to pharmacy if I wanted to.....I have been on my feet for a year at the hospital...and it is killing me....as a HUC.....I would be sitting down again...not that I'm lazy, but I worked hard for years to get my degree to have the right to sit down!! Whats your opinion?... thanks 53 cents/hour comes out to 1102.40 for the year. It's not a huge amount, so you could probably figure out how to make it work with the paycut. That is, if you think you will enjoy this new job more. But also, since 1102 a year is not a huge amount, I think it's fair to ask the new job to atleast match your current pay. Even if not immediately, at least discuss that issue and make sure there is a plan for a salary review after maybe 3 months on the job as well as ongoing opportunities for salary growth. It sounds like you are looking for something different, and it sounds like this job could give you some growth opportunities. If that is the case, the small pay cut may be worth it in the long run if you have the opportunity to make a lot more later on. Just don't sell yourself short. If you are worth more, or you're not sure if this HUC job is going to allow for career growth, then keep the job search going. There are other jobs out there, so find the right one where you will be happy. ****And don't forget to consider the rest of the package (benefits, paid time off, 401k match, and any employee perks)**** dude you have to sacrifice some ask this new employer about wether you would have any chance of growth or go to www.chkurboss.com read review written about your new employer and write reviews written about your previous employee that's what helped me decide to get a job in google |
