Am I going to be SCREWED? Or will I find a job? |
I want to go to school for Diagnostic Medical Sonography...(ultrasound technician).....it sounds very interesting to me, but I want to make sure that I will be able to get a job!!! AHH!! Please help? Make sure you go to an ACCREDITED ultrasound school. If you go to a NON-accredited school, you must work for a full year in the field of ultrasound before you can take your licensing exams. But, the problem is that you will have a hard time finding an employer that will hire you without your license. For a list of accredited schools, search for your state and "diagnostic medical sonography" at the following site. http://www.caahep.org/find_an_accredited... As for the job outlook, it is very good. Just about anything in the medical field is growing. "Employment of diagnostic medical ultrasound technologists is expected to grow faster than the average for all occupations through 2012 as the population grows and ages, increasing the demand for diagnostic imaging and therapeutic technology. In addition to job openings due to growth, some job openings will arise from the need to replace ultrasound technologists who leave the occupation permanently." http://www.radiologyworkers.com/ultrasou... You can get more info on the job outlook at the above site. Best wishes..... Source(s): I am a sonographer...... In NC, you could find a job, but it's harder to find than say nursing. ultrasound technitions is a growing field and has plenty of enough room for you. So don't worry and make sure you get a good mentor. Sincerely though i would like to warn you of the trials of being a ultrasound technition. It might sound like and easy job but i can easily tell you that it takes time and effort most would consider deterring. It is definately time consuming and doesn't relent even after a couple of years. If you realy do want to help your husband o ut with money I would suggest a better paying job with less work. Telemarketing would be a much better field than something as abusing as ultrasound. secondly in addition to the above advice i have some friendly life advice for you. The key to a much more relaxing life is to not compare yourself to others but to go at your own pace and follow your loves. Whether it may be cute boys, fun games, or free food Everything is going to be fine and i know you will get a highpaying job, a nice family, and stay beautiful. . Again im sure your life will be "perfect" you should have no problem getting a job you may have to drive to the next town over Like the first person said if you r in NC you wil have no problem finding a job just about any job in the medical feild is high demand |
