I was reading and it says LPN coursework covers chemistry..i suck at chemistry,is it really part of coursework

if it is what do you have to learn i suck at like half lives and protons and electrons, do i have to learn about that?..or is it very basic?

i believe it is just the basic chemistry. higher than basic chem would be unnecessary. i suck at chem too, but since it is a requiremnt, nothin we can do abt it than to study right? the principles in chem would be very helpful later on... when u take pharmacology it will be useful. so i suggest u try to enjoy chem and take into heart the principles. its a good investment for the career u chose to take.
=)
The protons and electrons are the base of it all. Chemistry comes into medicine ALL the time. If someone is dying and they ask you to put in an IV line with bicarbonate, and you don't know what it is, or what it does, so you hang saline instead or place the wrong additive to the bag or bottle and the patient doesn't make it....(and it doesn't really have all that much to do with that bag at all!), someone will find that bag of wrong stuff....and say no wonder! You sort of need to know your stuff. And you have to know it at a level that will make a difference when the time comes.

Sometimes they don't have ANYTHING you want or need to help, so you have to adapt to what's there and MAKE IT WORK, or the guy dies.

If you look at chemistry as one of the tools you need, then studying it so you really have a handle on it is a LOT easier this time around than doing it just to complete 2 semesters of basic chemistry to get into the LVN program.

You get a little cup with a medicine in it to give to Mr. JJ and note that the color is yellow. But that med is pink. The pink ones don't work for that problem. Why isn't Mr JJ getting any better?

Don't study the stuff for the teacher. Study the stuff for you. And do something you LIKE to do. Because after 5 years or 15 years it'll all become routine. No matter how good you are, how much you know, how many surgeries you've done, how many hearts you've fixed, it becomes a routine...your routine. So pick something you love (best) or like to do that you can live with, that your husband can live with, that lets you see your kids grow up.

And the more you learn...I'm not sure how this happens,...the dumber you seem to get....
I thought I sucked at chemistry too, but it was actually interesting. I kind of enjoyed it and did pretty well. The chemistry course for nurses is different from the chemistry course for people going on to chemical engineering or science, it's very basic, so don't worry.
