What is the diffrence between Pre Associate Degree Nursing, and Lpn?

Dear Jen,
An Lpn is a licensed practical nurse. They are tested and licensed by the state.I am not sure what you mean by a pre associates degree.I am an Rn which is also tested and registered by the state. You could receive an Rn degree either by an associates or a bachelors.Lpn's do not have all the same practicing privileges as RN's
If you are thinking about nursing as your career the best thing to do is get a 2 year associates if finances are an issue. This will allow you to work in a hospital that offers tuition reimbursement so you could finish your degrees. If you can not pay for a 2 year program you can also become an Lpn in 1 year or a certified nursing assistant in a couple months.Any of these jobs you would qualify for tuition reimbursement in most hospitals.Good Luck with your choice!
Check with your state nursing board. A Pre-associate Degree Nursing is usually associated more with an RN. Where an LPN is usually a certificate course.
