Do nurses make good money?? |
if so how much?? also can an 18/19 year old be a nurse if they graduated high school early and went to nursing school? or is that too young? You have to go to school a minimum of 2 years to be a nurse- 4 years to have a BSN, and then both need to pass a board exam. No way can an 18 year old be a nurse. Nurses make good money- it depends on where you work also. Hospital nurses can make over $30 an hour, especially if you specialize. That doesn't include vacation pay, sick pay, retirement plans etc. But you also can have some crummy hours and work situations as well. Most nurses work nights, weekends, holidays, and take call time. You also may have to work double shifts that aren't scheduled (i.e. forced to stay at work to cover shifts when there aren't enough staff). Nurses earn every penny they make. It's a stressful job, hard work, not for dummmies or the squeamish. Source(s): ICU RN for 10 years. yes they make very good money. average LPN makes 24 dollars hour. RN or higher makes double. i was a nurse aide(CNA) at 18 and making 15 dollars an hour Yes, I am a nurse and make very good money. When you get out of high school you can decide to become an LPN (licensed practical nurse) or RN (registered nurse). I am an RN. RN's make more money but there is more schooling required. I live in the northeast and RN's make an average of 65,000 a year. Nursing is a very rewarding career and very much in demand. You can choose your own hours and there are a variety of different places to work. Hospital, school nurse, nursing home, visiting nurse, ect. You can even be a traveling nurse and travel all over the country. The agency will pay you very well as well as pay your rent when you travel. Do your research and ask around. Good luck! Some nurses make "good money". Much depends on where you live and who you work for. When I graduated from nursing school 10 years ago, I started making $14 an hour in Austin, Tx. I was on staff at a local hospital and specialized in the OR. After 1 year on staff, I went to work for a local agency and earned $25-$30 an hour, depending on which hospital I was assigned to at the time. I have been travelling for more than 5 years now and have earned anywhere from $22 in Fl to $41 an hour in S Dakota. There are so many variables to pay. Good luck. No matter what specialty you choose or what level of education you have, this profession can be very demanding and rewarding. I found that my rewards for doing a good job come from within myself....I dont depend on other nurses or doctors to tell me I'm doing a good job. It is true that nurses eat their young....but this may be slowly changing...there a plenty of warm, kind nurses out there. |
