Wanting to pursue a career in the Radiology field.? |
Not as an MD, but a technologist. How are the benefits, salary, working conditions etc...? Also, there are many different machines to work in that field...ultrasound, mri, ct, are you trained on all of them in school, or are you supposed to major in one area? When you go to school for radiologic technology, you just learn x-ray, but you may "rotate" through the different modalities (CT, MRI, mammography, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, radiation therapy, interventional radiology) to get a feel for these areas. This job pays very well for the type of work you will do. I have been doing it for about 6 yrs and I am kind burnred out. You can learn all the different modalitys and move on to a different position but this year there has been a shortage of xray jobs. I suggest to you to go for your xray then immediately go for ultra sound or cat scan. you will always be able to find a job in ultrasound and ct. good luck...god bless |
